Bistro on a budget:
Say “bistro” to some Americans, and they think “fancy French dining.” But in France, a bistro’s all about kickin’ it casual without sacrificing good food. That’s why we like Le Bouchon’s three-course $22 Tuesday night fixed-price special; it keeps French fare accessible. You order from the regular menu–your choice of appetizer or salad, entree and dessert. To get the biggest bang for your 22 bucks, pick the most expensive items: Try the house-made pate ($6.50); the Moroccan-style lamb shank entree served with couscous ($17.75); and the creme brulee ($6). From what we figure, that would save you about $7.50–use it to upgrade your wine selection. 1958 N. Damen Ave. 773-862-6600.
