The Dears

No Cities Left

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Morrissey’s ego would be that much bigger after coming across The Dears; singer Murray A. Lightburn delivers a dead-on impression of the Mozzer at his melodramatic, mopey best throughout the Dears’ full-length debut, “No Cities Left.” The Canadian act’s sound deviates from the Smiths, though, coming off like a strange cross between Radiohead’s space rock and the libertine cabaret lounge of Serge Gainsbourg.
