The Black Keys

Rubber Factory

The third Black Keys album starts with a drum beat so primal and industrial that the Ohio duo may as well have titled the disc “blues factory.” Unlike the parade of indie-rock blues pretenders that came before them, The Black Keys actually sound like the real deal. Credit singer and guitar hero Dan Auerbach for much of the group’s grungy, swamp feel. “10 a.m. Automatic,” “All Hands Against His Own” and “Keep Me” sound like the missing link between classic rock and the old-school blues acts that got ripped off.

Take away: Raw blues
