Has it really been two years since Liverpool’s art-rockers Clinic released their breakthrough second record “Walking with Thee”? No matter, as “Winchester Cathedral” makes up for lost time with another volley of unclassifiable songs that exist somewhere in the clouds between rock and electronic music. The disconnect between singer Ade Blackburn’s warped, high-strung vocals and the dreamy, drone-happy music has never been greater or more grand than on “Country Mile,” “Circle of Fifths” and “The Magician,” compositions that take the hypnotic pulse of bands such as Can and add enough layers of slashing and chiming guitars to draw in fans of alt-rock.
