The Justice Village Board this week approved a contract for Poulos Construction to build a community pavilion.

Work has started on the $1.1 million structure, which will be located next to the detention pond in the Arbors of Justice subdivision. Construction should be finished next spring.

The brick and glass building will be used for activities including sporting events, a warming house and family gatherings. In addition to an open section, the amenities will include locker rooms, concessions and a community meeting room.

The Village Board originally turned down all construction bids because the costs were too high. But after scaling back some of the building plans, the contract was awarded to Poulos, a Chicago company that has built or renovated several public buildings throughout the suburbs.
