The DuPage County Health Department will begin its flu shot clinics on Oct. 18, so health officials are urging residents to call one of the department’s public health clinics in Lombard, Addison, Westmont or Wheaton to make an appointment.
Flu season typically runs from November until April. The best time to get shots is October and November because it takes about two weeks after the shot for immunity to develop.
Flu vaccinations are $20. Medicare and Public Aid cards are accepted.
