No tables were flipped, no chairs tossed, and Carmelo Anthony neither landed nor weathered any punches during a New York nightclub fracas Monday, according to a witness and the agent for the Denver Nuggets forward. But Anthony’s MTV-hosting girlfriend, La La Vasquez, was spit on by her ex-fiance, singer Sugar Ray, during a private bash for rapper Swizz Beatz. “It was a misunderstanding between two people,” said Calvin Andrews, Anthony’s agent, who said Ray approached the couple and spat a drink in Vasquez’s face.The Web site AllHipHop.com on Tuesday quoted party attendee and rapper Joe Budden as saying Anthony then “started swinging.” “If that happened, the cops would have come in,” said Michael Morales, general manager of Club Babalu. “The cops didn’t come in. (After the spitting incident), Carmelo left and his entourage left. That was pretty much it.”
