Despite an 0-2 start to what was expected to be another bowl-eligible season, the Northwestern Wildcats are not planning any significant changes on offense or defense.
On one level that is particularly good news.
RB Noah Herron, who took a ferocious helmet-to-helmet hit in Saturday’s 30-21 loss to Arizona State, is expected to be cleared to play after being checked out by the medical staff. Herron went back into the game and carried the ball after the hit, but appeared to have symptoms that concerned him, and he was evaluated.
Defensive end David Ngene, in the lineup because of injuries to Loren Howard and David Thompson, suffered a knee injury but is expected to play Saturday against Kansas.
“They all came out of the game with some issues but how significant those are is too early to tell,” coach Randy Walker said. “I would be shocked if we didn’t have all of them or most of them.”
