DePaul basketball coach Dave Leitao has agreed to a new six-year rollover contract that should lay to rest speculation the coach might listen to more lucrative offers.

There was talk after last season that Leitao was interested in the opening at St. John’s.

DePaul athletic director Jean Lenti Ponsetto wouldn’t disclose terms of the deal or whether there were penalties if Leitao tried to leave early other than to say, “There are protections in the contract for him and DePaul.”

The deal supersedes a five-year contract that had three seasons left.
