Galaxie 500
Uncollected
Ignore for the moment the irony of any collection titled “Uncollected,” not to mention that “Uncollected” is actually something of a reissue. During its late ’80s and early ’90s tenure, the college rock touchstone Galaxie 500 left behind plenty of scattered odds and sods, b-sides, one-offs and rarities from various compilations and singles. Once housed as part of a four-disc box, now “Uncollected” is available separately for those who missed out on the now out-of-print set. For newcomers to the band’s shimmering, slow sound, the disc is just as good a place to start as it is to finish.
