The Notorious Cherry Bombs
Country artists cross paths all the time, but it’s still easy to forget that superstar Vince Gill once played in Rodney Crowell’s backup band the Cherry Bombs. Like so many musical legends, the group never recorded a proper album, even if they did play on numerous records by Crowell and Roseanne Cash, so the rechristened Notorious Cherry Bombs’ eponymous disc makes up for lost time with a dozen laid-back tracks written mostly by Crowell and Gill, and played by several other veteran sidemen veterans. Nothing on here reinvents the wheel, but that’s the point.
