Orland Bowl, 8601 W. 159th St. in Orland Park, will soon get a new outdoor seating area and two outdoor sand volleyball courts, despite some village officials’ fears that the volleyball courts will distract motorists on 159th.
In a Village Board meeting this week, Trustees Bernie Murphy and Edward Schussler opposed the bowling alley’s request for a special use permit to build the 162-seat outdoor dining area and volleyball courts. Four other trustees voted for the proposal.
“This should be put in the rear of the property because it would be less of a distraction,” Murphy said.
The board also authorized Village Manager R.J. Zeder to begin negotiating with homeowners to buy two of the most flood-prone homes on Westwood Drive as part of an effort to alleviate flooding problems.
