Uzbekistan’s Oksana Chusovitina’s bid to become the oldest women’s Olympic gymnastics champion since 1968 ended when she finished last among 23 vaulters vying for the final. Chusovitina, 29, has been competing to earn money for medical bills incurred in her 4-year-old son’s battle with leukemia. She won a gold medal on vault in last year’s world championships but averaged 8.8 for two vaults in Athens.
