Village Gorilla Head
Tommy Stinson famously joined the Replacements when he was barely a teen, providing the bassist a musical education few could match. Since that group disbanded, Stinson has floated around from project to project, playing in the bands Bash & Pop and Perfect, and then to the amazement of many joining the current incarnation of Guns N’ Roses. Stinson’s had a lot of downtime with the GN’R gig, so he made “Village Gorilla Head,” his first solo album. It’s no surprise the disc is full of rousing power pop and rough-hewn rockers, but there’s a sensitive streak that would make mentor Paul Westerberg proud.
