A series of five seminal works by sculptor Isamu Noguchi (1904-1988) have been reproduced in black-and-white as commemorative 37-cent U.S. postage stamps.
One of the most striking is a 1968 Akari light sculpture (shown above at left).
The U.S. Postal Service first issued the stamps in late spring at the Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, N.Y., on the 100th anniversary of Noguchi’s birth. The museum reopened in June after extensive renovations (www.noguchi.org).
The Noguchi stamps are available at Post Offices nationwide and through www.usps.com/shop.
