Officials hope a sports bar and beer garden will bring new life to a faltering commercial center.
The Coliseum Sports Bar and Beer Garden opened Friday in Hickory Creek Mall at 191st Street and La Grange Road, Mayor Robert Chiszar said.
The business marks the first step in Encore Entertainment’s attempt to revitalize the mall area, where previous entertainment ventures have failed.
Developers Mark and Jeanne Ferrari plan to add a restaurant and possibly a dinner theater in the building.
The Village Board will get a chance to look at those propositions because the plans require separate liquor licenses, Chiszar said.
