Village Board members gave final approval this week to a new 117-acre shopping mall featuring the south suburbs’ first Super Target store.
The 500,000-square-foot Brookside Marketplace, to be developed by Minneapolis-based Ryan Cos. at Harlem Avenue and 191st Street, also will include another anchor store, 14 smaller stores, three full-service restaurants, two fast-food restaurants and a bank.
“This is probably the biggest project we’ve been involved in, not only from a financial standpoint but from a square-footage standpoint,” said Mayor Edward Zabrocki.
Village officials also have approved $12 million in financial incentives for the developer, which will be paid by sales taxes generated by the mall.
