The boys of “South Park” will be cursing–well, maybe not–their way to broadcast TV next fall.
The Comedy Central cartoon about potty-mouthed kids and their sleepy Colorado town will debut in syndication in fall 2005 in about 85 percent of the country, according to the Hollywood trade papers.
Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker struck a syndication deal last year with Debmar Studios, which sold the show in most of the nation’s biggest markets. Debmar recently entered a partnership with Tribune Entertainment to clear “South Park” in other areas.
There’s no word on whether, or how, the profanity-laced show will have to be edited to conform to the tighter standards of broadcast TV. “South Park” debuted on Comedy Central in August 1997 and is now well past the 100-episode benchmark for syndication.
