As the village’s year-old Children’s Museum is looking to move out of its cramped quarters in a Park District-owned building, the developer of retail space in a new tax increment financing district is considering offering the museum a larger home.

Oak Brook-based Mid-America Investment and Development Co. could add a second story to a mixed-use project near 95th Street and 51st Avenue to donate to the museum, Village Manager Joe Faber said last week.

The Village Board recently approved the TIF district and a proposal to develop condominiums, retail, a multilevel parking deck and a new train station.

With the Children’s Museum in the market for more space and the village in the midst of a new development, Faber said the timing was perfect.
