A volunteer for junior squad

Before Candace Parker gets down to business at Tennessee, the Naperville Central graduate has another basketball team on her mind–the one that will represent the U.S. in the 2005 world junior championships in Tunisia. She and Bartlett’s Lindsay Schrader will be among 17 finalists trying to make the 12-player roster during the final team trials July 22-28 in Denver. Parker’s brother, Anthony, was a member of the 1996 U.S. under-22 team that qualified for the 1997 world championships. “Sibling rivalry, you know,” said the three-time winner of Illinois’ Ms. Basketball Award and consensus national player of the year the last two seasons. Schrader, entering her senior year, already has committed to Notre Dame.
