Matt LeBlanc is set to welcome some of the “Friends” crew to his new NBC spinoff “Joey,” but don’t expect any immediate visits from David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow or new-mom Courteney Cox. Instead, “Joey” has gotten a creative transfusion, adding Emmy-winning “Friends” veterans Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Plummer.
The two actresses-turned-scribes will join “Joey” as co-executive producers, their first stop on a two-year overall deal with NBC Universal Television. Bilsing-Graham and Plummer arrived on “Friends” after a two-year stint on NBC’s “Veronica’s Closet.”
“Joey” creators Scott Silveri and Shana Goldberg-Meehan recruited the duo to join the new series, which has built positive buzz after a screening for advertisers at the network’s upfront presentation.
“They’ve worked together before, they know each other’s voices, they have a shorthand, and they certainly know the character of Joey,” NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly tells The Hollywood Reporter.
