Despite objections from some in a packed meeting, Oak Lawn officials may be moving toward approval of a $9 million mixed-use development near 95th Street and 51st Avenue.

A proposal for a tax-increment financing district that includes condos, retail space and a multi-level parking deck to accommodate a new commuter station “is in the best interest of the village,” said Acting Village President Ronald Stancik.

But some residents raised concerns about increased traffic and a change in the village’s character that is unwelcome.

Ordinances to approve proceeding with development plans could be voted on at the board meeting June 22.
