Lyric Opera of Chicago said Tuesday it renewed music director Sir Andrew Davis’ contract through the 2009-10 season.

Davis, 60, has been under a four-year contract since becoming music director in September 2000. His new five-year contract starts with the coming season, the Lyric’s 50th.

The Lyric declined to disclose Davis’ base pay or other compensation under the old or new pact. But according to the Lyric’s latest available tax filings, Davis was paid a total of $680,316 in the fiscal year that ended in April 2003, $791,923 in fiscal 2002 and $581,833 in fiscal 2001.
