“El Nuevo Almanecer” (“The New Dawn”), a mural by seven Huichol artists, will be unveiled at noon Fridayas part of the permanent collection of the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum, 1852 W. 19th St. The 8-by-10 mural, which consists of 80 panels, bridges the gap between fine and folk art and was created by lead artist Santos Motapohua de la Torre de Santiago and several assistants.

The Huichol people, among the most independent in Mexico, are known for using complex geometric animal and floral designs, especially in textiles. The new mural is a gift to the museum from Davis Bancorp.
