With 2002’s “Original Pirate Material,” Mike Skinner of The Streets introduced his refreshingly warts-and-all personality. “A Grand” is a concept album, with Skinner losing a load of cash and then, through a series of events both in and out of his control, losing his girlfriend. It’s a record as thoroughly modern as any released this year.
