Division of Laura Lee
Das Not Compute
Given the company they keep, you might assume Sweden’s Division of Laura Lee to be just like any of the countless anonymous punk bands hailing from Scandanavia and signed to Burning Heart. Yet DOLL has a thing for minor keys, tempering their punk thrust with dollops of gloominess. The group also gets more political on “Sneaking Up On Mr. Prez” and the dark “To the Other Side,” though it’s politics of the most generic sort. Still, that’s a start, showing that there’s more to DOLL than mere gloom and doom.
Take away: Punk gloom
