The DuPage County Forest Preserve District on Tuesday increased its holdings with the acquisition of about 8 acres adjacent to Warrenville Grove Forest Preserve in Warrenville.
The district paid $1.6 million in a negotiated settlement for the land, which faces Winfield Road and is at the north end of the preserve.

According to district spokesman Bill Weidner, the parcel was considered especially desirable because it rounds out district holdings at Warrenville Grove and also is across from the St. James Farm, which will become part of the DuPage County forest preserve system.
