Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
April is National Pecan Month, and the industry is making a push to promote the delicious nut as a food naturally low in carbs and high in nutrients and vitamins.
The Orangeburg Pecan Company suggests using pecans in the following ways:
– Sprinkle on salads for added crunch.
– Use ground pecans as a coating for fish, poultry and pork.
– Combine ground pecans with parsley and green onions, thicken with olive oil and spread on salmon filets before grilling.
– Toast pecans for snack food. Sprinkle with red pepper to create a hot version.
– Use pecans in place of meat in casseroles.
