Hepcat
Out of Nowhere
To call Hepcat’s unceremonious 2000 break-up disappointing would be an understatement. But, at least for a while, Hepcat seems to be back in action and is celebrating the reunion with a rerelease of its remarkable first record, a decidedly old-school ska and rock-steady disc that sounds straight out of ’60s Jamaica (with better sound). Like all great music, the disc has aged well, and with some fun liner notes and a pair of bonus tracks tacked on, now’s the perfect time to rediscover Hepcat.
Take away: Grade-A ska
