On their first album, the boundary pushing jazz trio The Bad Plus covered Blondie, Nirvana and Aphex Twin and made it sound as natural as their original compositions. Their second album, “Give,” likewise mixes novel covers–in this case the Pixies’ “Velouria” and Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man”–but even though producer Tchad Blake’s touch is a little more obvious this time out, the formula still works.
