“Frasier” is finally headed to cable.

The NBC comedy, which is ending its network run this season, will make its cable debut on Lifetime in 2006. The show has been in syndication for several years but to this point has aired only on broadcast stations.

Lifetime’s comedy slate currently includes a handful of older series including “Designing Women” and “Laverne & Shirley.” “Will & Grace” reruns will debut on the network next year, with “Frasier” set to follow in March 2006.

“As our programming evolves into an even richer mix of original dramas … original movies, new reality series and off-net comedies, we anticipate ‘Frasier’ will be one of the crown jewels of this strategy,” Lynn Picard, Lifetime’s executive vice president and general manager, says in a statement.

“Frasier” will end its 11-season run on NBC on May 13. The show has won 31 Emmys, more than any other prime-time series in the history of the awards, including five in a row for outstanding comedy series from 1994-98.
