Ads shot by fashion photographer Steven Klein, whose work also has appeared in Vogue and W, hint that Equinox elevates workouts to an art.

But the new Midwest flagship fitness center in the Bloomingdale’s building proves it.

In addition to a new one in Highland Park and the first Chicago location, in Lincoln Park, this Equinox at 900 N. Michigan Ave. looks more like a luxury hotel than a sweat shop.

Across three levels and 30,000 square feet, Equinox offers a 25-yard lap pool, pristine locker rooms packed with amenities, interiors softly gleaming with Venetian plaster installed by Italian artisans, and–perhaps best of all–a no-waiting guarantee for all equipment. (Parking is $3 for three hours in the shopping center lot.)

At an opening party last weekend, deejay Jesse De La Pena had the crowd elevating its heart rate. Higher-level feats of athleticism came from the acrobats of Actors Gymnasium.

The three-time Emmy-winning children’s troupe The Happiness Club also showed its dance moves.
