The Plainfield-Naperville Road Bridge, a crucial link to Interstate Highway 55 for many Naperville commuters, will close after the Monday morning rush hour for an eight-month, $4.3 million construction project.

The bridge construction is the first phase of a two-part project that will widen Plainfield-Naperville Road from two lanes to five between 111th and 95th Streets, said George Catalano, Will County Highway Department project manager.

The bridge will remain closed to all traffic until the project is completed Nov. 15. Traffic will be diverted to Illinois Highway 59.

Catalano said the Will County is acquiring land for the expansion of Plainfield-Naperville Road and construction on that project should begin next summer.
