Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

During a recent dental appointment, Diane, our favorite hygienist, asked if we planned to see “The Passion of the Christ.”

Probably not, was the response. We like for our movies to be fun. (Think “Friday,” “Office Space” and “Road Trip.”) And 45 minutes of seeing someone’s skin flayed to bloody ribbons is a lot of things, but none of them would count as “fun.”

“Oh,” she said. “I had a patient yesterday who was going right from her cleaning to see the movie. Her husband was going to save a seat for her.”

We were left to wonder what sort of fortitude it takes to go straight from having your teeth scraped to a movie that sounds more intense than a root canal without anesthetic.
