Chicago detectives searching for the missing owner of a cellular-phone store are trying to determine whether human remains found this week are the dismembered pieces of his body, law enforcement sources said.

Information police developed from suspects this week has led to the discovery of body parts in a garbage bin and perhaps other locations on the Northwest Side, the source said.

Police believe the kidnapping involved a dispute over narcotics. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration have been involved in the investigation.

Simitrio Sanchez, 21, and Pablo Morales, 31, were charged March 3 with kidnapping 44-year-old Jesus Colon. Several other suspects were being questioned by Grand Central Area detectives.

Prosecutors said Sanchez and Morales kidnapped Colon because they believed he was selling drugs on their turf in the Logan Square and Hermosa neighborhoods.

Police officials declined to comment Wednesday on the investigation.

Colon has been missing since Feb. 21 when he received a call at his Morales Communications store in the 3700 block of West Fullerton Avenue about a broken window at a store he owns in the 4400 block of West Fullerton.

He went to the second store to check on the window and has not been seen since. The day after he disappeared, his wife, Norma Morales, said she received a phone call from him and a Spanish-speaking man demanding $100,000 in ransom.

She called police, who monitored the ransom drop at a Logan Square CTA station and arrested a man who picked up the bag. The man told police he was a drug dealer and had been paid $500 to pick up the bag and drop it over the fence.
