Looking at 6-foot-8-inch, 260-pound DeAndre Thomas one would never guess the imposing Westinghouse junior came into this world via premature delivery. By the time he was a 6th grader playing on a summer team, Thomas had grown to 6-2, 190. “I was bigger than all the other centers my age and no one could really stop me.” Thomas averaged 10 points and six rebounds as a 6-4, 230-pound freshman center on Westinghouse’s sophomore team. A year later at 6-6, 240, he averaged 12 points and eight boards on the varsity. “I lifted weights last summer to get stronger, because I’m not a baby anymore,” said Thomas, who averages 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Public League champs as they prepare for their regional final.
