1. Ted Washington, defensive tackle
His stay with the Bears was short–the 2001 season and the first two games of 2002, when he was lost for the season with a broken leg. Along with fellow free agent Keith Traylor, he anchored the interior of the defensive line and went to the Pro Bowl after a 13-3 season.
2. Erik Kramer, quarterback
A member of first free-agent class in ’94, the former Lions starter had one of the most prolific passing years in Bears history in ’95, when he threw 29 TD passes vs. 10 interceptions for a passer rating of 93.5, sixth best in team history.
3. Andy Heck, offensive tackle
Another member of the first free-agent class of ’94, Heck gave the Bears five seasons of steady play at the most important offensive line position, left tackle.
4. Phillip Daniels, defensive end
When he received an $8 million signing bonus four years ago, the Bears hoped they were getting a right end who would consist-ently get 10 to 12 sacks per season. Daniels, now a left end, had 23 sacks for the Bears, but gave them four solid years as a starter. He was released on Monday and signed Tuesday by Washington.
5. Ricky Proehl, wide receiver
In his only season in Chicago after leaving Seattle, Proehl led the Bears in receptions (57) and TD catches (8) in 1997. He’s still playing–with NFC champion Carolina.
