“Ask more of yourself than anyone can ever ask of you, and that way you’ll always be prepared for whatever is coming.”
–Actor-choreographer Darrin DeWitt Henson gets motivated with Q.
Henson, up for an NAACP Image Award for playing brash family man Lem Van Adams on Showtime’s “Soul Food,” lives his life in constant preparation for what is to come.
“That way, you’re always a step ahead,” he said, “and you can help other people because you have an insight in what’s going down.”
The 30-year-old Bronx native cites preparation in getting the role of Lem on “Soul Food,” starting its fifth and final season at 9 p.m. Wednesday, and for winning a 2000 MTV Video Music Award for choreographing `N Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” video.
Henson is prepared to continue his success in two such diverse areas of show business.
“I think that I’ve built up such a pattern that I have to keep moving,” said Henson, who will next be seen opposite Vivica A. Fox in the movie “Beauty Shop.”
“I have to keep motivated in order to keep up with what I’ve done in the past.”
