Crime may not pay, but it plays– with a full deck–thanks to a burst of celebrity courtroom activity.

New “Starz Behind Barz” cards feature non-retouched mug shots and rap sheets of pop icons (Michael Jackson is the joker) and sports figures (Kobe Bryant, an ace)–but not Chief Homemaker in Hot Water.

“Martha Stewart’s been one that we’d love to have, but we can’t find her [official] mug shot,” said Smokey Burns, managing partner of Starz Behind Barz LLC.

She did, however, inspire the deck.

“Last year when she was arrested … we thought, hey, we should leverage this.”

He considered photo mugs printed with “Don’t get caught trading insider recipes.”

“But so many people feel like she’s just a saint,” he said. “We thought if we went just for Martha, there might be a backlash.”

Clearly, she and Jackson are not alone.

Card-carrying incrimination goes back to Frank Sinatra’s 1938 arrest for consorting with a married woman. “Yes, you could get popped for that back then,” Sinatra’s card clarifies.

Times have changed.

The cards are $6.95 per set (plus shipping) at www.starzbehindbarz.com.
