Rob Boras, a Glenbard West graduate who spent the last three years as offensive coordinator at Nevada-Las Vegas, was named Bears tight ends coach Wednesday.
At UNLV, Boras worked for head coach John Robinson, a former Los Angeles Rams head coach. Boras spent the last five seasons in Las Vegas, coaching the offensive line in 1999 and 2000 before taking over the offense. The Rebels finished 16th in the nation in rushing offense in 2001 and 15th in 2002.
In 1998, Boras was head coach at Division III Benedictine University in Lisle, where he moved after four seasons as an assistant at the University of Texas, where at various times he was the assistant offensive line coach, tight ends coach and assistant special teams coordinator.
After his graduation from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind., in 1992, he coached his alma mater’s offensive line for two seasons before moving to Texas.
