Did you know that the first three months of the year is the slowest time for a furniture store, which means it’s an ideal time to cash in on sales?
Or that fabric protection wears off with use and needs to be reapplied every six months?
These are just two of the tips in “95 Money Saving Tips for Buying Furniture” by Dee Brian, who worked for four years in sales for Wahlquist, a furniture liquidator in Little Rock, Ark.
Another helpful suggestion in this 11-page booklet is to take a Polaroid or digital photograph of furniture you are thinking about buying. Here’s another: When buying floor samples, check for damage or flaws because samples are usually sold “as is.”
Many of the tips are just common sense, but there are those that give you an “ah-ha” moment.
Brian, who also builds furniture for herself, says the 95 tips are meant to help furniture buyers save money and to be confident about the furnishing choices they make.
