Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Maybe it’s the variety of strong, eye-catching colors it comes in or its stretchy flexibility.

Perhaps it’s the high-tech, seat-belt look of the buckle that adjusts length by millimeters. Or its heavyweight fashion versatility. Or a prestigious golfers’ endorsement. Or maybe it’s the extraordinary efforts by publicists.

In any event, a buzz is circling over a narrow, colorful, sporty, unisex accessory called the Branie belt.

It will be part of the uniform worn by the Belgium Olympics team this summer in Athens, and it has been named “golf’s best belt” by the PGA Tour of Europe.

It was created in Belgium in 1999. Made of DuPont’s Hytel rubber, it is reported to be selling at Prada stores in Europe. And in the United States, it’s available at Fred Segal in Los Angeles, Nike stores and at www.branie.com for $69.99.
