Telefon Tel Aviv
Map of What is Effortless
From its first moments, Telefon Tel Aviv’s second disc catches your ear with its stylistic collision. Is it a chamber music album annexed by electronic beats, or an electronic disc with more cinematic aspirations? And what to make of the influence of contemporary R&B masters such as Timbaland? Whatever the case, it offers something totally disarming. It’s lush, white-boy funk that’s as sensual as it is danceable, totally unashamed about trying to make your booty shake and your heart ache, like R. Kelly remade for the indie set.
