Incubus

A Crow Left of the Murder

Incubus hit it big as the nice guy’s new metal, eschewing the negativity of other hard rock acts in favor of a more introspective, adventurous sound.

“Crow” shows that the group has used its success as an excuse to get even weirder and that the state of the world has left Incubus, and particularly singer Brandon Boyd, seriously ticked off. Along with a rhythm section that sounds like the Police crossed with Led Zeppelin and Mike Einziger’s twisted guitar anti-heroics is Incubus’ secret weapon–strange electronic effects woven into the album’s quieter moments. If the album ultimately feels a little too long, it’s because the group is just spilling over with good ideas.
