Small businesses are moving rapidly toward broadband Internet access, according to a new survey commissioned by a provider of high-speed DSL service and a telephone company.
According to the survey, 66 percent of small businesses now say they use broadband services. Nearly 40 percent of those adopted the high-speed service within the past two years.
More than half of the remaining 32 percent that responded to the survey said they would consider upgrading to broadband if it were available in their area because dial-up service is too slow for their business needs.
More than 40 percent of the 479 firms responding to the survey said the biggest impact the high-speed service had on their business was the increased efficiency with which business was transacted.
They also said it increased employee productivity and enhanced the firm’s ability to compete.
