Plans for a major home-improvement center in Orland Park moved forward this week when a Village Board committee passed and sent to the full board a recommendation to approve a proposal to build a 116,000-square-foot Lowe’s on the 15700 block of La Grange Road.
The store would anchor a 44-acre site on the east side of La Grange Road, near a Target shopping center to the south and Orland Park Place to the north. A bank and several restaurants are also being planned for the site, said John Sweeney, developer for Lowe’s.
The site would also include a bike path connecting neighborhoods to the east with ones west of La Grange, a route that would lead cyclists to Centennial Park, according to Bob Sullivan, community development director.
Two traffic signals are also being planned along 157th Street, one on La Grange Road and one on 94th Avenue.
