River City Shootout at Peoria Civic Center
Shaun Pruitt scored 16 points as No. 3 West Aurora held on to beat Bartonville Limestone 46-43. The Blackhawks (16-1) didn’t score a basket in the final 4:18, but did connect on 6-of-11 FTs. “Our game plan remains the same–to give the ball to Shaun,” said West Aurora coach Gordon Kerkman. Jason Thomas (12 points) hit two FTs with :01 left to put the Blackhawks up 46-43. Steve Blahnik’s long three-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out for Limestone (11-4), which was led in scoring by DeAaron Willaim (22 points).
North Park University tournament
No. 6 Julian hit 6 FTs in the last 50 seconds to defeat Thornwood 42-37. James Watson had 12 points and Lorenzo Eckford added 8 for the Jaguars (12-5). After trailing 11-8 in the 2nd quarter, Julian used an 11-0 spurt to take the lead for good. “We didn’t think they could guard us in the post,” said 6-8 center Eckford. The Thunderbirds (8-7) cut the lead to 34-32 in the 4th on Andre Muse’s three-point play, but could get no closer. . . . Jonte Johnson’s 26 points propelled Curie (13-5) past Corliss 66-40.
Rockton Hononegah tournament
No. 9 Hoffman Estates won the tournament, going 4-0, including a 53-50 overtime win against Rockton Hononegah (15-4). Bryan Mead scored 15 points and Jonny Reibel added 13 to pace the Hawks (17-1), who never trailed in overtime. After Mead hit 3 FTs in the final :25 of regulation, Hononegah’s Kyle Callaghan (10 points) nailed a three-pointer with :03 to send the game into OT.
Martin Luther King Classic at Crane
Chris Singletary tallied 26 points, 11 rebounds as Farragut outlasted Patrick Henry (Minn.) 83-78 in overtime. The Admirals (13-2) jumped out to an 81-73 overtime lead after a 10-2 run in which Singletary scored all 10. Ollie Bailey added 19 points for the Admirals, while Brandon Smith had 17 for Patrick Henry (7-4). . . . Alex Washington’s 18 points, 12 rebounds pushed St. Joseph past Robeson 66-59. Jonathon Peoples also scored 18 for St. Joseph (10-5), which used an 18-7 third-quarter run to break a 25-25 halftime tie. Jeremy Pargo recorded 17 for the Raiders (9-8). . . . Sterling Williams (17 points) and Lairdi Walker (11) guided Young past Minneapolis North 54-49. . . . Washington (Wis.) rolled past Foreman 70-44 despite Gerald Williams’ 16 points for the Hornets (6-9).

The Knights (16-3, 5-1) downed Buffalo Grove for the third time this season behind Gabrielle Cottrell’s career-high 37 points. Cottrell broke the school record for points (36) and tied the school record for three-pointers (7). Prospect connected on 10 threes, including four from Cottrell in the third quarter when the Knights outscored Buffalo Grove 21-3. Rachel Buchek scored 14 and Ashley Sandstead added 12 for the Bisons (16-7, 4-2).
