Things began to look grim for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday around the time it first became clear, even through the snow flurries, that Peyton Manning’s primary target this day was Patriots cornerback Ty Law.

The AFC title game was supposed to be the nation-al coronation of Super-manning, his installation as America’s Quarterback.

Uh-uh.

New England’s defense picked Manning as clean as if he were a roadside carcass. “It was all about `Mr. Inhuman.’ Every time you watched on TV, it was all Peyton Manning,” Law said. “Man, we got tired of hearing it.”

Law intercepted Mann-ing three times as the Pats’ defense turned the league’s co-MVP into the day’s Most Vulnerable Player.

It is why the Patriots are headed to the Super Bowl and why the Colts are still looking for their first Super trip since the Unitas/Baltimore days.
