Tom Hanks and HBO are teaming up for a drama series pilot.
The cable channel and Playtone, the production company headed by Hanks and Gary Goetzman, are close to a deal for a drama pilot called “Big Love,” according to the Hollywood trade papers. The show would explore bigamy, although few other details are available.
Hanks and Goetzman would serve as executive producers on the project, along with writers Mark Olsen and Will Scheffer (“In the Gloaming”). Playtone and HBO still are discussing the cost of the project and possible directors.

HBO has worked with Hanks on several projects in the past, including the Emmy-winning miniseries “Band of Brothers” and “From the Earth to the Moon.”
