Chicagoans can recycle their Christmas trees Saturday at one of 20 park district locations, announced the city’s Streets and Sanitation Department, which helps organize the program.
City workers will be on hand to feed the trees into chippers, turning them into mulch. Tree owners can take the mulch home or leave it for city planting projects. Program sponsors also will be handing out saplings and blue recycling bags.
For recycling locations, visit www.cityofchicago.org or call 311.
Sites will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Last year, the city’s tree recycling program turned 3,400 trees into mulch.
